And what if employers discover that certain employees have second jobs?

This is basic. When the health crisis ends, companies will be permitted to order employees to return to their offices. And those who refuse can be fired with cause for abandonment. It does not matter a whit if the employee can show that they are more productive remotely.

Given the cost savings in commute and meals and the preference many have for not returning to the office, they may find some “takers,” depending upon the discount. If an employee begins working in a different jurisdiction, let’s say Nicaragua or France, the employer will be subject to the labour laws of that jurisdiction, and will be seen to be running a business and employing workers there.
