GM has laid off 4,500 workers in Lordstown and closed the facility in March.

By Heather Long Heather Long Economics correspondent Email Bio Follow May 8 at 1:45 PM President Trump tweeted Wednesday and GM confirmed that the automaker is trying to sell its recently shuttered Lordstown, Ohio, factory to Workhorse Group, an electric vehicle company with fewer than 100 employees.

Trump has frequently weighed in on company decisions. The president lashed out at GM repeatedly after the carmaker began laying off 4,500 employees at Lordstown, the factory that made the Chevy Cruze sedan, urging the company to reopen the facility or sell it to another company. Workhorse makes electric commercial vehicles and is headquartered in Loveland, Ohio. The company had 99 full-time employees and seven part-time employees at the end of last year, according to its annual report. The company’s stock traded for less than a dollar before Trump’s tweet caused it to jump 40 percent.

Better than Obama's plan to see it shutdown completely.

LeChatNoire4 BillionDollarLoser strikes again

They will build electric powered trucks. I guess saving the environment isn't a thing anymore. Better call AOC. No green deal with .

Great news Lordstown, Ohio. We know you just lost over 4500 jobs, but don't despair, 100 jobs are possibly coming back, so all is well. Its official, the president has lost his damn mind.

Thank u GREAT PRESIDENT TRUMP

America remember this when you vote...

saneandreal Union busting afoot. I hate GM for this. They will lose my business as well as my husband’s, if they go through with this obvious attempt to lower worker pay & benefits and bust the UAW union.

I dont believe a word he says. It's a penny stock corporation with 99 full time and 7 part time employees.

Leaves room for expansion

Well... it’s better than sitting empty... and the city of lordstown..will receive the taxes needed to keep the city running...

finish the story... other wise they would have cometely shut the plant down.

Looks like an opportunity for the 'little guy'. It's so cute when elitist rags like pretend to care about blue collar workers.

How is this good?

It ain't over till the fat lady sings.

Obama “bailed” out GM, it became “Government Motors”. Like most things Obama did, GM didn’t turn out well.

This was trumps doing

Isn't that his speel ... announcing on Twitter, news picks up on it and nobody cares about follow ups like this ...

The rest can fight it out for jobs in fast food along the turnpike. Yay.

He’s such a con.

Naturally they will hire no one.

only in trump's world is this great

I hope those 4500 employees have found new jobs that pay them at least half of that they were making

So those jobs arent important? What an elitist perspective. those jobs mean something to those people and that community

Trump knows business like Tiger Woods knows fidelity.

WaPo always has Trump’s balls in their mouth.
