The institution said that though Habib would leave at year end, he had committed to continue to serve Wits “until all the necessary succession plans and processes are put in place”. It added it was already working towards appointing a suitable successor.
“Credit to him. We now have a choice on medical aid schemes [and] members of staff get an opportunity to participate in governance structures.” “When he joined Wits in 2013 we worried a bit, but as time progressed we felt if not him, who then? We are sad that he leaves without having implemented priority-one demand from workers: a housing scheme for workers,” he told TimesLIVE.
What a loss to Wits and the country. Proper leadership.
Education need to from politics. Politicians need to fight in parliament come out with policies that will support our institutions of learning
* when it*...
Good enjoy your career where it will be appreciated
I’ll miss him and I’m black as they come. He did good for Wits, he stopped hooligans like some of you from burning it down. Maintained high academic standards, increased research outputs, pushed the transformation agenda, attracted more funding etc. etc.
Only Sunday Times needs him NOT ABANTU
All the best to him and his family. He kept WITS ‘s education at the highest level over the past 8 years. Thank you Proff.
He can go hes useless
It is not a good time to be the Head of a University in SA given the unrest, upheaval and wanton disrespect and vandalism, pushed for and promoted by those hell-bent on destroying educational institutions.
He is heading to parliament....
Ooh come on..
More leadership from Mr Habib than the entire EFF combined
You can’t continually treat people like shit and expect them to accept it - comes a time when enough is enough
He wasn’t afforded the proper assistance .
Blame it on the 'activist, unionist'
Good riddance
