Tourism experts in France warn writing off summer 2020 'will be a catastrophe'

In 2015, the French government came up with a five-year plan to boost already very impressive international tourist numbers to 100 million a year by the end of 2020. The results were looking good through 2018 and even 2019, despite the irritants of Yellow Vest yobbery and transport strikes. They’re looking distinctly less promising right now, as tourism in the world’s most visited country has ground to a halt.
