PETALING JAYA: Chin Jie Xun, a fitness trainer whose willingness to work in a wet market touched the hearts of Malaysians, has thanked the public for their outpouring of support.

The 34-year-old has been receiving a lot of attention after The Star ran a story on his decision to work in a wet market when his income as a personal trainer and kickboxing coach dried up due to the movement control order .

Chin said he hoped his story would be able to"wake" up people who were emotional and having a hard time."A few years later, you will feel that this is nothing. It is not a big deal," he said."I saw a lot of comments saluting me. And since my dad has always reminded me to be polite, I want to salute all of you too," he said.

On Wednesday , The Star ran a cover story on job-seekers who got out of their comfort zone to earn a living by doing another job following the MCO. Chin was one of the people featured in the story. His job at a wet market earned him about RM80 to RM100 for six hours of labour.
