The Arts Club Theatre Company is reopening its Goldcorp Stage for a summer fundraising series. The series opens with a live reading of Spaced Out!, a work from the hit team behind the Mom’s the Word Collective featuring Jill Daum, Robin Nichol, Barbara Pollard and Deborah Williams.
One of the most popular works to ever hit the Canadian stage, Mom’s the Word had its Arts Club debut in 1995. The show has since toured to dozens of countries and played to an excess of two million fans. Now the team is back to showcase its intelligent, zany and — can’t we all use some — fun brand of theatre.
Artistic director Ashlie Corcoran looks forward to presenting the event, which will follow B.C. Ministry of Health guidelines, from an audience limited to 50 persons, to no intermission and zoned entry times to limit traffic buildups in the lobby. “We miss our Arts Club family of donors, patrons and artists more with every week that passes,” said Corcoran. “We’re overwhelmed by the amount of support we’ve received since temporarily closing our venues on March 17, and can’t wait to welcome an audience into our Goldcorp Stage once again.”
All proceeds from the live reading go toward returning theatre productions to the Arts Club’s stages, as well as youth and educations initiatives. More information of upcoming fundraising events will be announced over the coming months.
