Qld Senator Matt Canavan says it is “right and proper” for the Commonwealth government to be a model litigant, and not seek to “delay further” a resolution for Australian farmers suffering under the live cattle export ban. Mr Canavan said justice has been “delayed” for a long time and should not be “delayed further”.
The Federal Court recently ruled the Gillard government's live cattle export ban was unlawful after a long and extended legal battle. “It’s a very high bar to be accused of misfeasance of public office,” he told Sky News host Peter Gleeson. “The decision made by Jo Ludwig and the Gillard government nine years ago was an incredibly egregious one that caused so much pain”.
