Facebook took down an ad from the Trump campaign on Thursday for violating its policies against "organized hate."
The ad, posted from the Team Trump page on Facebook, encourages supporters to back Trump on his call to declare "antifa," the far-left group, as a terrorist organization. The ad features a photo of an upside-down red triangle, a symbol activists say Nazis once used to mark political prisoners in concentration camps.
Facebook's ad library shows that the ad first started running on the platform on Wednesday. The ad accuses "Dangerous MOBS of far-left groups" of "DESTROYING our cities and rioting." In a statement to the New York Times' Nick Corasaniti, Facebook said: "We removed these posts and ads for violating our policy against organized hate. Our policy prohibits using a banned hate group's symbol to identify political prisoners without the context that condemns or discusses the symbol."
jasmineweidenb1 Who thought it would be a good idea to use the same inverted red triangle worn by communists, liberals, social democrats & other political prisoners in Hitler’s concentration camps to signify leftists, Antifa & other perceived enemies of Trump? I don’t think it was unintentional!
