President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Prof. Innocent Ujah, says if the nation could have banks for industry and agriculture, it should also have one for health.
“As a country, we need to be doing more than what we are doing now. Judging from the quality of manpower we have in the health sector, we need to have more facilities and up-to-date equipment to show we are doing well at the moment. “At the beginning, we have only one teaching hospital and one medical school. Today, we have over 52 government-owned teaching hospitals and Federal Medical Centres.“The number of doctors and nurses produced are also far more than we used to have.
“When you look at the 1960s, India used to be like us. But they had a strategic move that ensure they go far ahead of us. Today, our people go to India on medical tourism. To further buttress the concept of health banking, the doctor urged the Federal Government to encourage a consortium of investors to set up state-of-the-art hospitals across the country.
Do you have a national health insurance system, blood bank, organ bank? It's money to steal that is more important to you. Please refund the building levy you have been illegally extorting from doctors
Dont have proper blood banks yet
What exactly have these industries achieved? I'm just wondering sir
Nigeria is in dire need of many things; good governance and genuine leadership among others EndSARS
