BERLIN - Germany’s cabinet approved on Wednesday legislation to force larger listed companies to have at least one woman on their management boards, following years of debate over the issue.
The measure has long been a demand of the centre-left Social Democrats , but Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats long resisted the move. However the chancellor has expressed frustration that companies were moving too slowly to appoint woman leaders. The percentage of women on corporate supervisory boards crossed the 30% threshold in 2017, and stood at 35.2% in November 2020. On management boards of the largest roughly 100 listed companies, women accounted for only 11.5% of positions.
Thereby proving how equal women are
👏🏼💫🦋👈👁Now the United States 🇺🇸 should follow suit. Equal pay for equal work 💪💋
My company my decision bingo if not possible I move my company out of Germany bingo !!! Understand it’s my risk it’s my company it’s my responsibility so it’s my decision too
It is true that a lot of times females have been bypassed for important promotions/ jobs despite their capabilities in preference of a less/ equally capable man. Sad to see Germany having to resort to quotas for women empowerment, but it wouldn't have happened otherwise.
Germany lost
This is the German way-the government gets involved in everything and most Germans like it that way. In the US, the government rarely gets involved but many Americans (at least 74 million) think there is too much gov’t involvement. The US and Germany could not be more different!
This is what they called discriminization.. Capitalism stirs us to fight competitively while this is the opposite act
