New York Federal regulators are looking closely at the Texas energy market after natural gas prices rocketed during last week's deep freeze. And they're warning that extreme weather will continue to stress the power grid.
"We are monitoring irregularities in the Texas energy markets following last week's freeze," Rostin Behnam, acting chair of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said in a speech Tuesday. The unusually cold temperatures caused life-threatening blackouts that left millions of Texans without power for days. And although residents of that state suffered the brunt of the energy crisis, the repercussions spread across the country.
Some states have laws against 'gouging' during disasters. Apparently it's ok for GQP states to allow gouging their constituents. Maybe there's a kick-back scheme.
Don’t mess with Texas, they are F up for a reason, by voting choices!
That’s what happens when Texas politicians are stupid and arrogant. They have nobody to blame but themselves for a failed grid.
In matters where LIFE is at stake, a system that puts profits 1st can't be tolerated, because it will always end up putting the lives of the People, behind profit & personal gain in many situations. Energy, heat, shelter, education, healthcare, etc, are far too important.
Hope they fix it before hurricane season...
Time for u all to move the fuck out of Texas
And after TX gets all that federal emergency assistance, they will AGAIN tell Washington to fu*k off and stay out of their business. When they do, they need to be cut OFF.
So should I still move to Texas or just stay in Los Angeles
