When Brian Doyle, the sales manager of Paulette Auto Sales in Kingston, Ontario made and posted a crude “promotional” video to his Facebook page, it was a goof, an outtake to share with friends. Of course, in the times we now live in, if you put it up, it will take off. Everybody knows that. And now so do we – and the dealership’s clientele.

Cause I ate [expletive] this morning mother****ers..I don’t know the price. I don’t know the year. But I can tell you for sure you’ll get some f***ing [expletive]. That’s right. Paulette Auto Sales mother****er. Come down and buy this [expletive] now”.
Boys being boys, right? When we let it slide, we justify it. When someone deliberately records it and posts it, they amplify it. It’s ugly, and it’s dangerous. These are the women who work within the industry; they’re the ones who face down attitudes like those displayed by Doyle, both casually and deeply entrenched, every day. And over half would get out if they could. We should be far, far away from the slimy tropes that have saturated the image of car salespeople for generations. Women and the men who don’t act like this shouldn’t have to fix those who do: kick out the dude bros.
