JOHANNESBURG - Nearly half of black-owned wine brands and farms have very little hope of surviving the next year. The industry is being battered by a fifth restriction on wine sales in South Africa. In the Vinpro survey, 58 percent of respondents indicated that their businesses would have to make drastic changes to overcome the impact of current restrictions.
The industry faced another blow this week when Vinpro's court application against government's 14-day lockdown booze ban was postponed again.
At the very least, they could've allowed wine sales from major retail outlets and direct sales from manufacturers but no that also requires common sense and logic which are none existent! How many glasses of wine does even the most irresponsible drinker need to have to misbehave?
