Michael Brown, President Joe Biden’s pick to run the Pentagon’s acquisition office, has withdrawn from consideration for the job,An ongoing Defense Department Inspector General investigation into hiring practices at his current job as director of the Defense Innovation Unit.
“While I am confident the Office of the Inspector General will ultimately find no wrongdoing on my part, I know there are other qualified candidates who can focus on the urgent business of making our acquisition processes faster and more cost-effective,” Brown wrote into take Brown's place. It’s expected to take months for a permanent official to be in place given the vetting process and the impending August congressional recess.
