SINGAPORE: Companies with at least 10 employees will have to inform the Ministry of Manpower of any retrenchments from Nov 1.
The change will “allow the tripartite partners and relevant agencies to provide timely support and assistance to workers who are retrenched”, said MOM. The tripartite partners, including Workforce Singapore and NTUC’s e2i, will reach out to affected local employees to provide employment and job search support.
I was retrenched when I ask to convert to free lance
So companies who can't make a profit because of the restrictions applied by their government, have to explain to their government why they've let people go? 🤦
So what happen when the company hide it as termination? There is no official retrenchment definition in our labour law…😷
