. It’s such an all-star cast and being a part of that roster was just incredible. Then there was the set, I’d never been to a set that big before, it was great.
Not a woman unfortunately but we did have an amazing ex-mariner, called Feargal, as our advisor. He helped us out a lot especially regarding the life and morale of the crew on board. They become a tight-knit community. And the hours can be full on. You sleep and work in cycles of 4-6 hours. It seemed that when the submarine surfaces after each tour, the crew are encouraged to let their hair down and unwind.
Going for a walk with some meditation music and a really strong coffee always helps me. There’s also journaling which I find incredible. It’s like a mind dump for me because I literally just sit freely and write and it’s not for anyone else to ever read. The words can be completely abstract, but it really gets it all out of my system and I love that.
