The South African Women’s cricket team has started its 2022 ICC World Cup campaign with a victory in Dunedin. The Proteas beat Bangladesh by 32 runs. South Africa who were put in to bat first, were bowled out for 207 off the penultimate delivery of their innings. Opening batter, Laura Wolvaardt, provided the platform, scoring 41 off 51 deliveries, while all-rounder, Marizanne Kapp, top-scored with 42 off 45 balls.
The Proteas then dismissed Bangladesh for 175 halfway through the last over. Player of the match, Ayabonga Khaka, took four for 32 in her ten overs. South Africa next play Pakistan in Tauranga next Friday.
