“Some of the different rules in corporate settings that artists need to understand are things like a fiscal year, how that affects budgets, and operating on a quarterly basis. Most artists, if they’re doing things from a pure way, the want or need to really understand that probably doesn’t exist. An artist is working off of career and legacy – the good ones – they’re not working off what’s happened in this quarter or revenue or market shares.
I don’t really do TikTok, but if it feels good and it’s me, I do it. There’s no schedule to it. I focus on art. [With] art that is potent and unique and you can’t get anywhere else, people come to you, you don’t even really have to try. That’s what more time should be put into. If you don’t have a foundation, none of those things really matter, so I focus on the foundation, because foundation creates word of mouth. People can’t wait to share artists that they want to put people on to.
