The head of a big four bank has reacted with surprise about new Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s declaration of estrangement from big business, saying it didn’t square with his recent experience of the Coalition government.

“I do think those people and small businesses and micro-businesses feel the system is against them, and I want to be a voice for them and make sure we can help them, see their businesses grow into big businesses. National Australia Bank chief executive Ross McEwan said he was “a wee bit surprised” by Dutton’s comments.“We’ve had, I think, a very good relationship with Josh Frydenberg, who was open [to] taking a telephone call at any time of the day or night and, if he wasn’t available, he’d always ring you back,” McEwan said.

“Of course, business supports an active agenda for reform, including changes to taxation, skills and industrial relations policy, in addition to the sustainability, digitalisation and other means to boost productivity,” McKellar said.Australian Industry Group CEO Innes Willox said his organisation would work with the federal opposition “in the interests of all employers”.

Step in the right direction!

It’s not a lie if YOU believe it 😉 sitdownboofhead

We're not surprised!! I'm surprised that the four Banks are ' surprised ' They should know the previous gov was run on LIES . Dutton's showing he's following the same pattern...LIES! Here's his track record of failure in governing and corruption

The business of the government is to rule fairly, not to hop into bed with big business.

It doesn't square with anyone with common sense. There's no way the Liberals are going to voluntarily give up their corporate donations and cushy jobs when they leave parliament.

Gosh, the LNP isn't being called out for more lies, is it? You would have thought they learned something from ScoMo, obviously not.

And an NAB boss would never have an undisclosed agenda; just take everything he says on face value

Dogs love him. 🥴
