Former federal finance minister Bill Morneau seen here in the House of Commons on July 8, 2020. In a speech Wednesday night, Morneau said he's much more concerned about Canada's economy now than he was when he took office.
Truth is not Criticizing 🙄
Hmmm maybe something you guys at should have been doing the entire time?
Trudeaus agenda is to destroy Canada..and the cheque collectors keep taking..
Pre-Covid, Canada’s economy surfed on a weak dollar and government transfer payments (and maybe lottery winnings). Then Covid = massive transfer payments. Govt not creating wealth, simply re-distributing wealth.
His point was that be didnt agree with the government giving so much money away becauae the inflation rate would go up. Surprise, it has. Now i get he’s got skeletons in his closet, but hes not wrong.
There is very little about this on the CBC website.
Laughable. Bill never cared before. He must have fallen and bumped his head.
It’s a fk minority gov! And NDP has a coalition with the Liberals. That is disastrous.
TruAnon when seeing this headline:
You know Canada is in trouble when a disgraced and corrupt former tax and spend Liberal finance minister disagrees with the current government’s economic policies. TrudeauLiberalsHaveGotToGo TrudeauworstPMever TrudeauCorruption
Recession will be a buying spree for some. Personally, can't wait to purchase homes for cheap, sit on it, then sell high. ATV's, boats, etc, another gift. Thank-you to my Liberal friends!

Considering the business Morneau owns, he has a vested interest in pushing the pharmacare agenda. It's in his best fiscal interest to do so. I agree with him, but his motives are profit-motivated, mine aren't.
Is the productivity metric as important as it once was? The knowledge/digital economy doesn’t really fit in the productivity equation. Curious what people think. Real question. No haters pls.
There has been no redistributin of wealth, as per Morneau's charge. The 'economy' does not exist separately from people and should not viewed as having its own rights. Hollow is the approach that looks only at 'growth' if it leaves people out.
Must be affecting his bottom line now that he seems to care
The most pressing issue is the outright theft of taxpayer money due to corruption at all levels of gov't.
Never being able to afford a home in Canada in my lifetime seems like the most pressing issue along with the economy.
Strange assessment considering we have such high growth that we need to slow it down in order to tame inflation.
What does Morneau not understand about the word 'former'. I hate these FORMER politicians having a say about issues they themselves messed up during their tenure
ChrisWalkerCBC 🙄
Tightening the belt will not do it. The debt of the pandemic can only be repaid by increased productivity.
