abc.net.au/news/optus-hit-with-cyber-attack-impacting-customers-/101466036Optus has been hit by a cyber attack that has compromised customer information, the telecommunications company says in a statement.
For some customers, addresses and ID document numbers such as driver's licence or passport numbers have been exposed. "We are devastated to discover that we have been subject to a cyber attack that has resulted in the disclosure of our customers' personal information to someone who shouldn't see it," Optus CEO Kelly Bayer Rosmarin said in a statement.
"including looking out for unusual or fraudulent activity and any notifications which seem odd or suspicious," Ms Bayer Rosmarin said.

They have also been putting bills up for people who are on contracts w/o warning for at least a year- after goading people into using monthly direct debits. How is that legal?
Optus - you expect us to give you all our information- drivers licence and passport numbers and you can’t keep them safe !!
Class action incoming
That ole trusted brand floptus droptus added hackedus to the list.
me and my 131 optus services will be moving as of today
Why does optus retain former client data? Can somebody please ask how long they hoard information for and for what purpose?
Considering someone was able to set up a fraudulent account with optus in my name this surprises me not one bit. Clearly incredibly lax security and lack of checks and balances.
Why don't you Optus use some of the massive profit the company makes every year and invest in some decent cybersecurity. Pretty sure the CEO and senior exec's could suffer a bit of a pay cut to pay for it. LOL
Let me guess, Russian or Chinese hackers... Keep your data with Google, Meta and Microsoft and you will never be hacked. All ways yours, NSA
Yeah right,, that’s about the third time in 12 months, sounds more like their selling our info and pretending it’s a cyber attack
Reminds me when the Liberal Party wanted to bring in new laws earlier this year which could have resulted in all Aussies online needing to upload Driver’s License and Passports to possibly up to dozens of tech companies around the world. What possibly could have gone wrong 🤪

How do we know if we have been affected Optus
