For months, officials have warned of an energy crisis this winter as Russia — once the region’s biggest supplier of natural gas — slashed supplies in retaliation for sanctions Europe imposed over its invasion of Ukraine. Now, EU gas storage facilities are close to full, tankers carrying liquefied natural gas are lining up at ports, unable to unload their cargoes, and prices are tumbling.
That’s well above the 80% target the bloc set countries to reach by November. “That’s an extremely high level,” Di Odoardo said, noting that the maximum storage level averaged 87% of capacity over the past five years. Europe’s efforts to secure as much fuel ahead of winter as possible has caused a backlog of LNG tankers at European ports, made worse by a shortage of LNG import terminals.
Fake news. Less than a month ago it was all doom and gloom. What happened to the pipeline leak? So sick of this BS we are fed
Putin is going to be so pissed. This was his big play for the winter. 🤣 StopPutinNOW
Mother Nature will fight evil-putin too..
see? No problem...
See, man made global warming has its benefits (sarcasm font)!
the fall in prices hasn't reached the customers, yet. hugs from austria.
1. LNG requires regasification. Offshore regasification facilities are being leased because regular facilities are insufficient. Offshore ones are now all in use. 2. A nation's storage capacity of LNG is not the same as the amount a nation will use an entire year.
ok so whats the problem - just one of logistics i suppose.. great news..
The problem is that the supply has been greater than reception capacity and storage capacity. the problems will probably show up in April and May.
