Local charity expects ‘most challenging year’ ever

As the holiday season approaches, Feeding Northeast Florida is gearing up for a spike in demand from families needing a little extra help to put food on the table amid massive inflationary pressures and a possible recession.

Not only are more and more people relying on food banks this year while they’re feeling the pressures of increased costs of living, but the providers of such relief are feeling those same pressures and cost increases, making it difficult to prepare for the holidays this year. “It's not a train you can get off of even when it gets a little fast. You know, this is our work. This is our mission. So let's do it,” King said.
