An experimental drug that Genentech Inc. and parent company Roche had hoped would clear away clumps of proteins in the brains of Alzheimer's Disease patients failed two late-stage clinical trials.
Gantenerumab, Genentech's monoclonal antibody, had failed a previous Phase III study with Genentech drug-discovery partner MorphoSys. The trials focused on people with mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's and with mild Alzheimer's dementia.
