He described the award as an elixir that would encourage the company to continue providing top class and people-oriented services to the country. He also pledged that the company will not relent in bringing best services to Nigerians and empowering them at all times.
The organisers said the Globacom award was in recognition of the company’s remarkable contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector. In a citation read at the event, Globacom and its founder, Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., were commended for the passion and commitment that culminated in the emergence of Globacom, as well as the company’s sterling contributions to the growth of the Nigerian telecommunications industry.
“As Nigeria’s second national carrier, Glo was the first company to launch operations on per second billing. Driven under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr., the network pioneered the billing system in Nigeria in 2003, even when older networks said it was impossible,” the citation read.
Globacom’s intervention in the country’s telecommunications industry was also recognised as a development, which “stirred many sectors in the economy, thereby empowering millions of Nigerians.”
