Trend follows rising pressure on companies to rein in repeat or annual price hikes for older drugs
Drug pricing is complicated and secretive. WSJ explains how the flow of money, drugs and rebates behind the scenes may drive up the price of prescription medicine for consumers. Illustration: Mallory BranganA new Amgen Inc. lung-cancer treatment, Lumakras, carried a hefty price tag when it came out in 2021: $17,900 per patient monthly.
Just over a year later, in December 2022, a second drug for the same type of cancer, Krazati from Mirati Therapeutics Inc., had an even higher price: $19,750 a month—a 10% premium.
Drug companies also offer co-pay assistance for many pricy drugs, which lower the price to $5 or free. I know from experience. For anyone who needs a costly medication, find out who makes the drug and check their website.
Shame and a disgrace but what can you expect from unregulated lobbies big Pharma
That is shameful, disgusting! To be blackmailing someone that has cancer is the worst thing they can do. No wonder they haven’t found a cure for it. I can’t believe that they haven’t found one! I think they have and we’re bought out by the big Farma companies and shelved it!
It bears repeatin.
Nothing new, pharma business has been looting the world since ages
For how long will the medicine have to be taken?
