The Manila Electric Company , through its transport solutions unit, will be expanding its electric vehicle business into a commercial scale operation.
According to Meralco First Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer Raymond B. Ravelo, the company will not just venture into EV charging facilities, but it will also delve into deployment of EVs as well as other array of solutions to help stimulate the growth of electric mobility in the Philippines.
It emphasized that “the new subsidiary will focus on the development and deployment of different electric transport solutions.” eSakay, in particular, currently operates a fleet of electric jeepneys plying the Makati-Mandaluyong route, hence, it will be having its focus on the public transportation space.
