The La Porte-Shoreacres area was one of the top places to buy a home in the Houston region during the first three months of the year, according to a new list released by the Houston Association of Realtors.Real estate agents say factors including affordability and proximity to Galveston Bay helped make the La Porte-Shoreacres area the third-most-popular location in the Houston region to buy a home in the first three months of the year.
“It’s the recreational facilities and the water,” said agent Raquel Johnson of Sapphire Homes Realty. “The school district is good, and there are a lot of jobs here locally from the port and Ship Channel industries,” he said. “People have access to the bay and all the recreational facilities.” In comparison to the neighboring communities of Pasadena and Deer Park, La Porte has land previously owned by industries that now is available for builders and investors.
