You would then hear from activists and the media that very smart people with Ph.D.s and lab coats invented this form of medical “care” and that there are fancy studies to back it up. Therefore, they say, you really should trust the experts over what your gut tells you.

Three days later, she sent him a letter of recommendation that baselessly claimed the surgery was “medically necessary."
