Jobs will be lost as supermarket ASDA moves its business away from a Nottinghamshire depot. Global logistics giant GXO started a collective consultation with staff at its Ollerton facility in March, after retailer ASDA informed the company it preferred to be serviced by a different site.
GXO explained its client's needs had "outgrown" the Nottinghamshire depot. As a result of the contract between the two firms being transferred to a site in Sherburn, North Yorkshire, roles will be cut at the Ollerton site. It is not clear how many people have been impacted by the move - Nottinghamshire Live has approached trade unions for further detail on the number of roles impacted. A GXO spokesperson said: “GXO initiated a collective consultation process in March in connection with the proposed transfer of a customer contract from Ollerton, Nottinghamshire, to our site in Sherburn, North Yorkshire.
Affected staff are being offered the option to transfer to the Sherburn site or elsewhere within the GXO network if feasible. GXO's spokesperson added: "As part of the ongoing consultation, affected GXO team members are being offered the option to either transfer to the Sherburn site or be transferred, where possible, elsewhere within the GXO network. GXO is committed to fully supporting our colleagues throughout this transition.
