Sen. Lindsey Graham said Congress should"stay out" of the Supreme Court’s business at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday, addressing justices’ relationships with wealthy donors and accepting undisclosed gifts.
Graham pointed to the number of high-profile cases of justices accepting luxury gifts and taking expensive trips with donors, that have come to light recently. Attacks on Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, staunch conservatives, by Democrats, spurred on by reports in ProPublica, have reinvigorated calls for the court to adopt a code of ethics similar to those in use by lower courts.
