Influential Australian Jewish business leaders are urging the full support of the federal government to back retaliation by Israel, after the surprise attack by Hamas militants which one described as the worst atrocity since the Holocaust.
The Palestinian Health Ministry has said at least 687 people in Gaza and the West Bank have been killed in retaliatory air strikes. Tech and start-up founders and members of the local Israeli community met in Sydney on Tuesday at an Australian-Israel Chamber of Commerce event that suffered last-minute agenda changes as speakers were forced to attend to the war effort.
“It will recover. Israel an indomitable spirit of resilience and innovation, and that will continue,” she said. Mr Shiffman said the attack would provoke a cycle where Hamas provokes Israel, “Israel bombs Hamas innocent children are tragically killed”.
