Celebrating Wild Caraway: Taste of Nova Scotia's Restaurant of the Year | SaltWireST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer was in the right place at the right time Wednesday afternoon in downtown St. John's, but it proved to be the very opposite for an accused armed robber.
While in a business’s back office area around 2 p.m. as part of an unrelated investigation, a staff member ran in advising someone had just stolen from the store. The on-scene officer collected all relevant information and surveillance footage, shared a description over police channels and within the hour a male suspect was detained and arrested downtown.
The 20-year-old is charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation.
