Tun Daim Zainuddin said Malays need to change the way they approach doing business as the old ways of expecting government subsidies will no longer work. — Picture by Hari Anggara
“Our mindset has to change and we need to educate the people,” the former chairman of the now defunct Council of Eminent Person said in an interview with“They want to do business, but people think that business is doing what you want.” Daim said if Malays want to be better entrepreneurs they must read, study, and learn from the successes and mistakes of others.
In the interview, he was also asked how Malaysia have fallen behind nations like China who at one time had a poverty rate at 90 per cent but now are one of the biggest economies in the world.
Daim ..ko tu yg byk amik percent. The ministers also taking subsidies. Stop blaming the people. U shud be the model of a good leader who doesnt enrich oneself at the cost of othrs
😂😂😂😂
Only the rich talk like that. Where were you before Tun Daim? You depended on political patronage to get yourself started. Thats subsidy also. Enough of denigrating your own race.
Subsidies can help to kick off or jump start a business. Just like how UAE subsidised Emirates initially for cheaper fuel in order to sell cheaper flight tickets. But subsidies cannot be sustained, because it will cripple the business eventually. Malays must stand on their own.
Government can stop relying on tax after this.
Tells the man who received subsidies too
