Earlier today in a press conference after the G20 meeting in Tokyo, President Trump revealed an updated stance on Huawei. While it’s not a lifting of the blanket ban, it will significantly benefit the Chinese manufacturer.
In other words, the question of lifting the ban on Huawei selling its products, which include smartphones, laptops and communications infrastructure technologies, to the U.S. has not been changed. One of the things I will allow, however, is, a lot of people are surprised we send and we sell to Huawei a tremendous amount of product that goes into the various things that they make. And I said that that’s okay, that we will keep selling that product.
This means Huawei has bought itself some life line until it is capable of producing all the chips in-house. This should only be a few years. After that they won’t need American knowhow and would have still cornered Middle East, African, European and Latin American 5G market.
Summarize, the US can still SELL to Huwaie, but it is still banned from several markets. In other words, US companies can still work.

althiaraj Here's why Canada was right - as was the UK and Germany - not to rush into a Huawei ban.
