MOSCOW - Russia on Tuesday told an international organisation set up to verify a ban on nuclear tests that a military testing accident in northern Russia earlier this month was none of its business and that handing it radiation data was entirely voluntary. The Vienna-based Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization said on Monday that two Russian monitoring sites closest to the mysterious explosion went offline days after the blast, soon followed by two more, fuelling suspicions that Russia tampered with them.
Russia’s state nuclear agency, Rosatom, has acknowledged that nuclear workers were killed in the explosion on Aug. 8, which occurred during a rocket engine test near the White Sea in far northern Russia. The Interfax news agency on Tuesday cited Deputy Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying his country’s transmission of data from radiation stations to the CTBTO was voluntary and that the Aug. 8 accident was not a matter for the CTBTO anyway.
Nothing says 'cover-up' like: - claiming an accident wasn't serious - blocking access by anyone who might dispute that claim
Sure, like overthrowing our democracy wasn’t our business.
We're dealing with literal organised criminals here. Criminals with nukes. Putin himself started life as a violent street-urchin in the slums of Leningrad. His criminal modes of thought now perfuse the whole Russian ruling class.
In Soviet Russia, people have no accidents. Accidents have you.
If it’s non of our business, man up to it and announce the test to the public beforehand and when accidents happen admit it, don’t say there is nothing to see or hear
Putin be like
Russia Fallout RussianPeopleBusiness
But it kind of is though. Accidents happen and when it comes down to that sort of incident it needs to investigated
Russia’s mental. This test only takes a child to understand you would never try it. I mean your pushing air through and open nuclear reactor. Nuclear crop duster anyone?
Gosh if only there was a president not working for putin in charge.
sfrantzman jakejakeny They conducted a nuclear test that violated Partial Test Ban Treaty (PTBT) of 1963 in that case.
On Russia? How it can possible? The Left say this is a Democracy.
Would the US ever allow access to test ban monitors lol....but of course Reuters trying to pull the usual 'Evil Russia' meme, day in and out.
It’s funny how Russia acts like it is still relevant, when the world treats them as the annoying trolls that they are.
Nuclear accidents are everybody’s business. Putin was on vacation when the Kursk was lost and refused international help for 4 days as those sailors suffocated. Now that a radioactive cloud is lingering over Russia, does he think Russian’s will put up with this?
realDonaldTrump this is your job
I mean, it quite literally IS his business.
Radiation spreading around the globe is everyone's problem.
Exactly. Your foreign terrorists sponsored in Yemen and Syria are not going to be profitable. Tell that to your bloodthirsty warcriminal Masters you peddle daily propaganda for. 👍
Typical.
tRUMP “there are a lot of good nukes on both sides”. (Sarcasm) TrumpTraitor TrumpRecession
(whistling) nothing to see here...how about those Yankees...am I right...huh
Can scientists speed up with making Mars homey as quickly as possible am tired of living with those people called human beings
It is when it affects other countries. Why should the rest of the world suffer?
Y*rrak istemiş canı şapşal lezbiyenin o da beni bulmuş bro😂🙄🤦
😂
The fact that humans tolerate this bullshit is troubling.
How Soviet of them. Russia is in retrograde.
Seems like nuclear tests are PRECISELY their business.
Tatooine?
So treaty is pointless if monitoring is voluntary?
monitor not your business!
