Financial sector weighs on Toronto market, U.S. stock markets mixed

The S&P 500 index was down 1.23 points at 3,168.71, while the Nasdaq composite was up 54.85 points at 10,547.35.The August crude contract was down 29 cents at US$40.61 per barrel and the August natural gas contract was up nearly five cents at US$1.87 per mmBTU.

The August gold contract was up US$1.10 at US$1,821.70 an ounce and the September copper contract was up four cents at nearly US$2.87 a pound.
