Appea told this column the 166 Mt figure is from the government’s long-term emissions reduction plan report. But that report does not say how the figure is calculated – just that it came from unpublished analysis by the department of industry.

2/ the thing is the whole lnp abatement stratagy was based on ccs ,the commercial science fix theyve been touting ,doesnt work ,theve got nothing except not cutting trees down ,theve wasted billions on junk .
ccs is a dud , it works if you can find an aquifer to take the liquid co2 and hold it at high pressure ,maybe 2 kilometers deep ,near the emitter or the coal, gas fired power plant which has to supply the electricity for the compressors at 25% of the supply and not keep up, joke
One angle that really has not dawned on me until a friend (Leigh Farnell) put up on Facebook today... oil and gas industry is to power and light as whaling was 100 years ago. Aren't we glad we don't do that any longer.
