Two contracts for the R5 billion Potsdam upgrade will be considered on the City Council's agenda in March.Appeals have been dismissed for two major contracts for an R5 billion upgrade at the Potsdam wastewater treatment plant.The volume of water that will be treated after the upgrade will increase from 47 million litres to 100 million litres.

The Potsdam wastewater treatment plan currently only has the capacity to treat 47 million litres of wastewater. The poor capacity of the Potsdam plant has resulted in theThe upgrade would allow for 100 million litres of wastewater to be treated daily. In a separate statement, member of the provincial legislature Cayla Murray said appeals had been delaying the upgrade.Given the extent of pollution and environmental degradation faced by Milnerton Lagoon and its surrounds, it is vital that this much-needed development is not delayed any longer by tender appeals.
