The business, which did indeed get its start at an informal dinner gathering, recently attracted $2.7 million in seed investment in a round led by the seed-stage venture capital fund. A venture fund founded and led by women, Sandpiper invests exclusively in women-led Canadian tech companies.

SiftMed software uses artificial intelligence to make it easier to organize and go through medical records. The product is being marketed to insurance companies and legal firms. - Contributed "This really allows us to put our heads down and grow and scale," Hill said."We've already launched with a number of Canadian partners — and very early stages with U.S. partners — on using the system and network flow, but this allows us to go to market faster and get ahead of our competition."The investment will help the SiftMed team grow, too.

In a statement shared with SaltWire Network, Sandpiper managing partner and co-founder Rhiannon Davies complimented Hill and her team on what they've achieved so far.
