Saturday marked the closing for the season of the 111th Aurora Farmers Market, the longest running farmers market in the state.

Helen Shannon of Aurora walked among the various booths at the Aurora Farmers Market Saturday and was a little wistful about something more than the early morning rain. “I come here weekly. I find that the products I buy from this vendor are so fresh. I used to drive to Michigan and found out this vendor is from the same place I used to go to,” Helen said as she looked over some produce. “I know that today is the last day of the market. I’m sad.

Ralph Lopez of Lopez Farm from Michigan has certainly established himself as one of the anchors of the market, who said Saturday morning the farm has been coming to the market for “almost 30 years.” “We have good customers and nice people and we try to bring the best we can. We have a farm in Michigan and everything here is fresh,” Lopez said on Saturday. “Today is the last day and all my customers are coming in to say goodbye.
