1.5 million EPF withdrawal applications in May approved, says finance minister

About 1.5 million applications to withdraw from EPF have been approved for the month of May, involving up to RM702 million. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 21, 2020.

AS at April 17, 1.5 million out of a total of 2.8 million applications for withdrawal from the Employees Provident Fund’s i-Lestari facility for May have been approved, involving withdrawals amounting to RM702 million, says Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz. Under the scheme, EPF contributors may withdraw RM500 a month for 12 months from their Account 2, with total withdrawals estimated to reach RM40 billion.
