Cerner and Xealth are partnering to infuse EHR with digital care tools - Business Insider

of chronic condition patients say tapping virtual support from a care team would help them better adhere to their treatment plans.

However, willingness may not always translate into actual usage, so tools like Xealth's — which are recommended directly by a physician through the patient portal — will be most effective in boosting treatment adherence and improving care: of US chronic disease patients said they'd try remote monitoring devices if they were recommended by their doctor.

We expect to see more EHR vendors partner with platforms that are easily integrated within the provider workflow to remain attractive to health systems. A major gripe of the US healthcare system is that EHR fatigue physician burnout. So, if health systems look to adopt new tools, they should seek out solutions that'll easily integrate into their clinicians' workflows so as to not create even more stress on their workforce.

We think EHR vendors that integrate digital tools that focus on chronic conditions will prop up the value of their platforms in the eyes of health systems looking to curb costs: According to the CDC, of the US' $3.5 trillion in annual healthcare spending is dedicated to chronic disease patients.
