Michael Shoebridge, director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s defence and national security program, said an acquisition of Digicel’s Pacific assets by a Chinese entity would serve state and corporate interests.“The Digicel example shows how strategic and economic interests are now intertwined, but despite this, Western government and corporate approaches are struggling,” he said.
