'I want brown boys everywhere to know just how special they are.' ❤️

, a doll company dedicated to"letting every young brown boy know just how special they are," in June 2020 and named Lil Dee the CEO.As soon as he signed the paperwork, Lil Dee set out with a goal to pay tribute to boys like Trayvon Martin, 17, who wason Feb. 26, 2012, and 12-year-old Tamir Rice, who was killed by police in Cleveland in 2014.

To reaffirm the message that Black boys deserve to be loved, the plush dolls each speak five positive affirmations, including"Brown Boy, you are strong,""Brown Boy, you are smart," and"Brown Boy, your life matters."" ," Lil Dee said on the company's website."I want brown boys everywhere to know just how special they are . . . I know when I go into the store, nothing looks like me or represents me — this is a problem."and in children's media, the dolls — and bimonthly subscription boxes on the site — are meant to"trigger a connection, boost self-esteem, and create an environment where they feel loved, appreciated, and at home.
