With the building industry facing unprecedented demands and delays, homeowners wanting work done are being warned to lookout for scammers.Industry experts say the delays are only expected to increase due to material shortagesAlpine police commander Senior Sergeant Doug Incoll said several people had fallen victim to criminals posing as tradespeople.

"Concrete is really in high demand at the moment and there's a huge waiting list locally to get any concrete laid. The builders are the scammers, contract timeframes and terms mean nothing in this covid world. The poor homeowner is powerless and held to ransom unless they have the money for lawyers. The dispute process is useless. How about a story on the shonky building industry.

Any thought to researching the governments regulations (or lack thereof) in preventing such practices? Instead, you interview a law enforcer? How about the law makers?
