The fire was caused by an explosion, a witness said.

PREMIUM TIMES learnt that about 10 people were injured and goods worth millions of naira destroyed during the incident.

“Many people died, but we don’t know the actual number of people that died yet. But I have seen two bodies,” he said in Igbo language.Chukwulota Ndubuisi, chairman of the market, confirmed the fire incident to reporters. “We are trying to put it off completely to avoid spreading to other sections of the market,” he said.
