Residents and shop owners in Onne, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, have commended the Nigerian Navy for clearing and evacuating a stretch of refuse dumps on the median in front of the market.

Led by the Commandant of the Navy College, Onne, Commodore Pakiribo Anabraba, from 7am to 10am, they rolled out sanitation tools, such as shovels, rakes and bags, gathering the debris and other waste from the median of the federal road in front of the market.

Speaking to newsmen in front of the Onne market, Commodore Anabraba said the sanitation was a directive from the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo to enhance the relationship between the Nigerian Navy and the civilian population, especially its host communities, saying it was a routine exercise.

Anabraba said, “This is one of the civil-military relations activities organized by the Nigerian Navy to reinforce and strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Navy and their host communities. In this case the Nigerian Naval College and its host communities.”All rights reserved.
