Agilent produces active pharmaceutical ingredients , then sells them to other companies. It focuses on oligonucleotides, which are short DNA or RNA molecules that help target diseases. The company is headquartered in California, but it has had a location in Boulder since the 2000s. When Agilent wanted to expand, it decided to stay close by — in Frederick, about 25 miles east of Boulder along Interstate 25.
