The development comes after a man was stabbed on Dublin’s Grafton Street in broad daylight on Sunday morning

Senior gardai are set to meet with business owners and Dublin City Council to address safety concerns - following yet another horror attack in the capital. The attack, which saw the man stabbed in the back at around 9am, sparked outrage, with Minister for Justice Helen McEntee “strongly” condemning it in a statement.“Minister McEntee strongly condemns this assault and believes such violence has no place in our society,” a spokesperson said.

The shocking attack occurred in the middle of the popular shopping street and in the midst of a spate of recent high-profile incidents of violence in the capital. “The Minister is informed that senior Gardai will this week hold a meeting with Dublin business groups, business owners and Dublin City Council on safety in Dublin, where they will discuss their approach and listen to concerns and issues,” the spokesperson said.

“The Minister is committed to ensuring Dubliners working and living in our capital, and those who visit the city, are safe and feel safe. That is 76 fewer than the same period last year - where there were a recorded 2,429 assaults in public places across the DMR.
